Summary at a glance

A widely upvoted November 2025 thread argues Function Health's 160+ headline counts test events, not unique biomarkers, putting real breadth nearer 100 a year.

Ways2Well includes a one-on-one clinician video consultation with your first panel, then charges $49 or $99 for later consultations.

Ways2Well holds 2.4 out of 5 across its 96 public Trustpilot reviews, while Function Health holds 4.3 out of 5 across 1,322.

Function Health now syncs steps, sleep and resting heart rate from connected wearables via its Connected Apps feature, but lab results still do not flow out to any external app.

Function Health PDF downloads work, but results no longer sync to the Quest portal and there is no machine-readable export.

This article is general information about two consumer blood-testing memberships, not medical advice. We have not used either service, and nothing here interprets your own results. Liver, kidney, hormone and cardiovascular markers need a clinician who knows your history before they mean anything for you. Talk to a doctor before starting, stopping or changing any medication, hormone therapy or supplement.

Ways2Well vs Function Health: which one should you buy?

Function Health costs $365 a year and covers 160+ lab tests. Ways2Well costs $599 a year and covers 100+ biomarkers across two panels, with a one-on-one clinician video consultation included on the first one. Function Health is the better buy for most people. Ways2Well earns the extra money only if you want prescriptions alongside the numbers.

Price is not the only gap. Customers rate the two services very differently. Function Health holds 4.3 out of 5 across 1,322 Trustpilot reviews trustpilot.com. Ways2Well holds 2.4 out of 5 across all 96 of its public Trustpilot reviews, and 24 of the 39 posted since January 2026 are one star trustpilot.com.

Both sell a blood panel plus an app. Neither tracks your symptoms day to day. Function Health now syncs steps, sleep and resting heart rate from connected wearables via Connected Apps, but Ways2Well does not.

How do Ways2Well and Function Health compare on price and testing?

Ways2Well charges $599/yr ($49.99/mo, charged annually). Function Health charges $365/yr. Ways2Well runs two comprehensive panels covering 100+ biomarkers annually. Function Health advertises 160+ lab tests, with on-demand testing between the two scheduled draws.

The headline price is not the whole bill for either one. A tester who paid full price and wrote up the experience in early 2025 reported paying the lab separately: "I then had to pay Quest Diagnostics for their services: just over $200 for each of the two visits." dannb.org Ways2Well includes one video consultation with your first panel, then charges $49 for a 20-minute consult and $99 for a 40-minute one.

Read the marker counts closely too. A widely upvoted comment on a November 2025 thread argues the Function Health headline is "technically counting test events, not unique biomarkers", putting the real breadth closer to 100 a year reddit.com.

The membership fee is not the whole cost. Function Health members pay the lab for each draw, and Ways2Well charges $49 or $99 for consultations after the first panel.

What do Ways2Well members say?

Ways2Well reviews split hard. The panel and the two Texas clinics get the praise. The remote side gets the complaints.

The warmest reviews come from people who had already spent a year getting nowhere. One five-star reviewer in September 2025 wrote, "After spending a year seeing doctors and getting no where, I found ways2well." Others name the Austin and Houston staff and call the rescheduling seamless trustpilot.com.

The complaints are operational rather than clinical. Reviewers describe waits of 30 days or more for a consultation they have already paid for, refills stuck in processing, and replies arriving days later from a different person each time. A customer of about ten years wrote in June 2026 that service "has gone downhill and now it is almost nonexistent" trustpilot.com.

A Google Play reviewer in January 2026 put it in two lines: "There is no professional help. Just an AI." play.google.com

That reading turns up on Reddit too. A commenter in December 2025 described the service as "your quest results uploaded to their app" plus "an ai bot that makes a bunch of generic comments about your results" reddit.com. Members in the same thread report a year on the membership with no trouble, so the experience is not uniform.

The Austin and Houston clinic staff are praised by name, repeatedly

One membership covers the panel, the consultation, hormone therapy and peptides

Reaching a human is hard, and reviewers say support routes through AI

The annual membership requirement lands at refill time for some existing patients

What do Function Health members say?

Function Health reviews are calmer. The praise is about breadth. The complaints are about what happens to your data and your renewal.

Members like getting tests their own doctor would not order, and they like watching numbers move year on year. One Trustpilot reviewer wrote, "I learned so much about myself in the first year" trustpilot.com.

The loudest current complaint is data lock-in. A top comment in August 2025 wrote that "the data is stuck into their platform. They no longer allow Quest to keep the data and there is no Apple Health integration" reddit.com.

The strongest version of that claim goes too far. When one member called the company predatory for blocking downloads, the highest-voted replies disagreed, including "I was easily able to download a PDF of my results and send it to my provider" reddit.com. So the PDF works. What does not is portal sync and anything machine readable.

Clinician notes are the other sore point. A March 2026 commenter wrote, "I put my results into ChatGPT and got more helpful feedback than Function’s clinician notes" reddit.com. Support draws the same complaint Ways2Well gets: chat and email, with no phone line.

Which blood panel is worth it in 2026?

Function Health is the better buy for most people. It costs $365 a year against $599, it covers more markers, and its customers rate it far higher. Choose Ways2Well only if you want testosterone therapy, peptides or supplements prescribed and shipped by the same company that runs your panel.

Ways2Well's real advantage is follow-through. One membership covers the panel, the consultation and the treatment that comes out of it. Function Health hands you numbers and a protocol, then leaves the prescribing to your own doctor.

Neither one replaces a clinician who knows your history. Both renew on their own, so put a reminder in your calendar before the year is up.

Ways2Well states that its membership is non-refundable and that unused bloodwork credits expire at the end of the billing cycle. Function Health members report auto-renewal with only part of the fee returned after they cancelled.

Pick Ways2Well instead if you want hormone therapy, peptides or supplements prescribed by the same membership that runs your bloodwork, and you can live with slow support.

How we researched this comparison

We have not used either service. This comparison reports what paying customers say, read in full in July 2026.

For Ways2Well we read all 96 public Trustpilot reviews. We also read the 10 full-text Apple App Store reviews behind its 3.6 out of 5 across 48 ratings, and the three Google Play reviews behind its 3.0 out of 5 across 23 ratings. On top of that, 12 Reddit threads carrying 316 comments and the one third-party review video that exists. We checked for independent written reviews of Ways2Well as well, and found none.

For Function Health we read the Trustpilot page holding 4.3 out of 5 across 1,322 reviews. We also read 10 full-text App Store reviews, from a listing rated 4.9 out of 5 across roughly 23,000 ratings. Add to that two published tester write-ups, and 10 Reddit threads carrying about 300 comments.

Prices and panel contents come from each company's own published information, checked in July 2026. Some reviewers quote older figures from before Ways2Well moved to an annual membership, so we used the current published prices instead.

Review pages are not neutral ground. Function Health pays for a Trustpilot subscription and invites reviews, and Ways2Well's page carries small bursts of five-star reviews posted within an hour of each other. We weighed both.

Neither service tracks symptoms. Ways2Well does not read a wearable. Anything day to day beyond what Function displays has to live somewhere else.

Which is better for testosterone therapy?

Ways2Well, because the same membership covers hormone therapy, peptides and prescription support. Controlled prescriptions are restricted in nine states it lists, so check your own state first.
