Summary at a glance

Your first batch of Function Health results typically starts arriving within 48 hours of the blood draw; imaging reports take 7 to 10 business days.

Every result arrives with a doctor-written explanation, action items and a clinician's full summary, and a healthcare provider calls you if a result is critical.

The download Function documents is a PDF from your member account, taken from the documents page as the "Lab result of record".

Function has no provider portal, so your doctor sees the results only if you download the PDF and send it over.

Function retests twice a year, which makes the trend across reports more useful than any single flagged value.

This guide explains how Function Health delivers, formats and shares lab results. It reports what Function's own documentation says and what members say publicly; we have not used Function Health and have not received or exported a Function report. Blood testing screens your health, it does not diagnose or treat disease. Nothing here interprets an individual marker for you. Reference ranges vary by lab and method, and an out-of-range or borderline value needs a licensed clinician who knows your history. Talk to your doctor before starting a supplement, changing a dose or stopping a medication.

TL;DR: what to do first with your Function Health results

Your first batch of Function Health results usually starts arriving within 48 hours of your blood draw functionhealth.com. Read the clinician summary that comes with them. Then log in and download the full PDF from your account. That PDF is what you hand to your own doctor.

Function has no provider portal, so the download is the handoff.

Everything below covers the practical side: where the numbers land, how to get them out, and what a sensible next step looks like.

Download the PDF, then take it to your own doctor

Function explains every result and adds a clinician summary, though the only way out of the platform is a PDF download.

How Function Health delivers results

Results land in your Function account in batches rather than all at once.

Imaging runs on its own clock. Those reports are ready in 7 to 10 business days, arrive in the same account, and Function emails you when they are there functionhealth.com.

Every result comes with an explanation written by doctors, a set of action items and a clinician's full summary. So a number is never on its own. You get Function's read of it in the same place. If any result is critical, Function says a healthcare provider calls you.

Speed is one of the things members like. A Trustpilot reviewer in late June 2026 wrote: "Results were sooner than I expected." trustpilot.com

How to read your Function Health results

Start with the clinician summary and the action items. Function writes an explanation for every marker it tests, so read its wording on a marker before you go searching elsewhere functionhealth.com.

Then look at the reference range printed beside each value. Those ranges come from a population, and they shift between labs and between testing methods. A value flagged high on one report can sit inside the range on another. Compare against the range on the report in front of you.

The membership covers 160+ lab tests, so expect a long document functionhealth.com.

What the report cannot do is tell you what one marker means for your body. That belongs to a clinician who knows your history.

You can also upload lab results from your own doctor into Function and keep the whole history in one timeline.

How to export or download your Function Health results

Function gives you a PDF.

You download it from your member account, and imaging reports and image files come down the same way functionhealth.com. Members describe the exact route. The opening post of a November 2025 thread in r/Function_Health points people at the documents page inside their account, where they download the "Lab result of record" reddit.com. Worth knowing who wrote it: that post came from Empirical Health, a rival testing service promoting its own free upload tool.

Function's own export is the PDF, so a few members have built their own tools against its data. Handing your login to someone else's tool is a decision worth sitting with for a minute.

Download the PDF after every round of testing and put the date in the filename. Six months later, comparing two dated files beats digging back through the app.

How to share your Function Health results with your doctor

Download the PDF and give it to your provider. Function runs no direct provider portal, so the file is the handoff functionhealth.com.

Imaging works the same way. Download the report and the image files, then pass those along.

Function also lets you connect your results to vetted AI partners, naming ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity. It runs a private AI chat inside the product too. That is convenient. It is also your full lab history leaving the app, so choose deliberately.

Bring the PDF to an appointment you have already booked, because a clinician reading it with your history in front of them beats any summary.

There is no provider portal. Your doctor sees your Function results only if you download the PDF and send it over.

What to do next: turning your results into a plan

Treat the first report as a baseline: one set of numbers is a snapshot of one morning.

Book time with a clinician who knows you and bring the PDF. Function's summary gives that conversation a starting point.

Then retest on a steady cadence. Function's own answer is twice a year, which is what the membership covers functionhealth.com. Keep the reports together so the trend is visible. A marker drifting in one direction across three reports tells you more than a single flagged value ever will.

Change one thing at a time between tests. Change five, and the next report cannot tell you which one did anything.

Lab results are not a diagnosis. Talk to a clinician before you start a supplement, change a dose or stop a medication because of a number on a report.

What Function Health users struggle with after results

In r/Function_Health, the loudest theme after results is getting the data out and keeping it.

Members do not take the PDF download for granted. One commenter in the November 2025 export thread wrote: "Let’s see how long it takes for Function to not even allow us to download the file from Quest…." Another in the same thread offered a workaround: "If you want a CSV containing the data directly from their API (including the optimal ranges) I made a tool for myself here" reddit.com. Reading a thread where members build their own exports tells you how portable the data feels to the people paying for it.

Knowing what to change is the other struggle. On Trustpilot, a reviewer in late June 2026 wrote "I appreciate the feed back on all the test that you all did, hopefully made it easier to figure out what to do." trustpilot.com

That is the gap a guide can only half close. The report explains the markers. What you do next is a conversation with your doctor.

How we researched this guide

We have not used Function Health. Nobody here received, exported or shared a Function report, so this guide reads public sources and tells you what they say.

Three sources sit behind it. Function's own FAQ, read in full on 14 September 2026, supplies every delivery fact here: turnaround, what the report contains, the download format, sharing and the retest cadence functionhealth.com. One thread in r/Function_Health from November 2025 supplies the export route and the member reaction, with 23 upvotes and its comments captured in full. The Trustpilot page supplies the two member quotes above, taken from reviews dated between 24 June and 8 July 2026.

Membership and panel facts come from Function's own site.

Where a quote comes from a company with something to sell, we say so in the line that carries it.
