Summary at a glance
Visible's free research app gives you symptom tracking, a Morning Stability Score, smartphone-camera HRV and research study enrolment for $0.
The membership costs $19.99 a month or $179.88 a year, and the Visible Band 2.0 is a separate $79.70 purchase on top.
PacePoints, real-time over-exertion alerts, activity tagging, HRV biofeedback breathing and shareable health reports sit behind the membership.
The loudest complaint in user reviews is paying a monthly fee to read data from a band you already own, and losing access to your history when you stop.
Visible does not work with Apple Watch, Fitbit or Garmin, and the membership is sold in the US and UK only.
This article reports pricing from Visible's own website and aggregated user sentiment about that pricing. We have not used Visible or its band first-hand. Nothing here is medical advice, and nothing here can tell you whether pacing, heart-rate tracking or any symptom app is right for ME/CFS, Long Covid, POTS, fibromyalgia or any other condition. Talk to a clinician who knows your history before you change how you manage your illness.
Should you pay for a Visible membership?
Stay on the free research app if you want symptom tracking and a morning score without spending anything. Pay for the membership if you want PacePoints and real-time over-exertion alerts, and you can also afford the band. The membership costs $19.99/mo, or $179.88/yr = $14.99/mo. makevisible.com
The split is about timing. The free app records what already happened. The membership warns you while it is happening.
That is the whole decision. Everything below is the detail behind it.
The band is a separate purchase. The cheapest way in is $99.69 upfront: one month of membership at $19.99 plus the $79.70 Visible Band 2.0.
Newly diagnosed with ME/CFS, Long Covid or POTS, and still guessing which ordinary activities cost you a crash.
The annual membership, if you are still working out your limitsIt works out at $14.99 a month against $19.99 on the monthly plan. Most people who cancel say they had already learned what they needed, rather than that the app let them down.

Every check-in brings you closer to answers. Effortlessly build a clear picture of energy, mood, pain, and sleep over time — so you can see exactly what's improving, what's not, and feel confident you're doing the right things to feel better.
What does the Visible free app include?
The free research app costs $0 and covers four things: symptom tracking, the Morning Stability Score, smartphone-camera HRV and research study enrolment.
There is no wearable integration on the free tier. Visible's own FAQ says the free version cannot connect to a band, so it reads your heart rate variability through your phone camera instead. makevisible.com
People do get real use out of it. In a January 2025 Google Play review, one person wrote: "10/10 I can't believe the free version is so good!!! It is such an amazing tool, and I can't wait until I can afford the paid version". play.google.com
The camera reading is where the goodwill runs out. A commenter on r/cfs in October 2025 wrote "Yeah measuring HRV only once a day thru a phone camera is just going to be wildly inaccurate." reddit.com Another reader in the same thread described their morning score jumping around: "I once took a reading and got a 2 and redid it 10 minutes later and got a 5."
So treat the free app as a symptom diary with a rough daily reading attached. That is useful. It is not pacing.
Visible app showing pace points and a weekly chartWhat does the Visible membership add?
The membership buys six things: a personalized PacePoints budget, real-time over-exertion alerts, activity tagging, HRV biofeedback breathing, health reports export and a dedicated support team.
PacePoints is the one people talk about. Visible sets you an energy budget from your own data, you tag what you do, and your phone tells you when you are spending past it.
Sleep is not on the list. Visible's FAQ says the app is not currently optimised for sleep tracking and offers no insights on sleep.
The table below sets the tiers side by side, including the band, which is billed separately from every membership plan.
Visible does not support Apple Watch, Fitbit or Garmin. The membership features only work with the Visible Band 2.0, which you buy outright.

What does a Visible membership cost?
Monthly is $19.99/mo. Annual is $179.88/yr = $14.99/mo. The Visible Band 2.0 is $79.70 one-off, and it is not bundled into either plan. makevisible.com
So your first payment is $99.69 if you go monthly, or $259.58 if you go annual. After that the annual plan saves you $60 a year.
Cancelling is straightforward on paper. Visible lets you cancel before your next renewal payment. The band is the catch: Visible does not refund the device cost unless your armband is faulty, and gives hygiene as the reason. makevisible.com
The membership is sold in the US and UK only, so check your region before you order.
Cancel before your renewal date and you stop paying. You do not get the $79.70 band cost back unless the band is faulty.
What do users say about paying for Visible?
The structure of the payment bothers people more than the price. You buy hardware, then you keep paying to read what that hardware collects. A commenter on r/Fibromyalgia in January 2026 wrote: "Adding a subscription to access the data for an already expensive arm band seems extremely predatory." reddit.com It came from the busiest Visible thread we read, a January 2026 r/Fibromyalgia post with 156 upvotes.
The history lock-out is the second half of it. "Additionally, if you are not an active subscriber you can’t see your data," a reader noted in December 2025. reddit.com For people who log daily for years, that is a lot to walk away from.
Then there is the value question. "It's literally a Polar armband but without most of the Polar armband data/analysis. Pretty much a very expensive heart rate tracker," wrote one r/ehlersdanlos commenter in December 2025. reddit.com Visible does not hide the Polar origin, and the band carries the Polar logo. Fans push back that Polar's own app is built for training, which is the opposite of what a pacing user needs.
Praise for the paid tier lands on one thing: what the alerts do while you are still moving.

The free app stands on its own, and reviewers say they use it while saving for the paid tier.
PacePoints and real-time alerts change behaviour during the day, which is what the fee actually buys.
Exported reports get taken seriously by doctors, and users report diagnoses and prescriptions following.
Refunds and cancellations are honoured in at least some cases, including a public refund offer on Trustpilot.
You buy the band, then pay every month to see what it records.
Stop paying and your own logged history goes out of reach.
Free HRV comes from your phone camera, and readings can swing between attempts.
Strip the framing away and it is a heart-rate monitor with a symptom journal, users say.
Who should stay free, and who should upgrade?
Stay free if you mainly want a symptom diary, if you are outside the US and UK, or if $259.58 for a first year is money you cannot spare. The free app still logs symptoms and still lets you join the research studies.
Upgrade if you are early in an energy-limiting illness and you genuinely do not know what pushes you into a crash. That is where the alerts earn their keep.
Users who quit tend to say the same thing on their way out. “I do think Visible is great when you first develop ME or need help understanding how activities impact your heart rate and energy usage,” wrote a two-year subscriber cancelling in June 2026. reddit.com Read that as a product with a natural end date. Skip it if your main problem is cognitive or social exertion. Heart rate does not always follow those, and several readers say the budget misses them entirely. Switching to a device you already own is one of the most common ways out.
Skip it too if you already wear a Garmin, an Oura ring or a Whoop and you are happy reading their data.

We have not used Visible, paid for a membership or worn the band. Every opinion above belongs to someone else, and we say who and when.
Prices, tier names and included features come from Visible's own website, read in full on 29 July 2026. The sentiment comes from a separate pass over public reviews. We read 15 Reddit threads with all their comments, across r/cfs, r/mecfs, r/covidlonghaulers, r/POTS, r/ChronicIllness, r/Fibromyalgia and r/ehlersdanlos. Trustpilot supplied the 60 most recent reviews, from a profile carrying 1,033 reviews at 4.7 stars trustpilot.com. Google Play supplied 250 recent reviews against a 4.6 average play.google.com. The Apple App Store US and UK pages came next. Two long YouTube reviews added their comment threads. That comes to roughly 880 saved items.
Only one published tester review was available to read. It dates from February 2025 and covers the older band, so we have not relied on it. Apple only shows its most helpful reviews, which skews positive, so we leaned on Google Play and Reddit instead.
Where a comment was over a year old, we said so.
