We have not used Welltory or paid for Premium, and nothing here is a test result. Heart rate variability, stress, energy and sleep scores from a consumer app are not diagnostic. Arrhythmias, beta blockers and other medications can distort them. Stay on the free tier if you want one heart-rate-variability reading a day. Pay for Premium if you want unlimited measurements, all 21 metrics, sleep and blood pressure analysis, and a history that lasts beyond 30 days. Premium is $99 a year on welltory.com. We have not used Welltory first-hand.

What does the Welltory free tier include?
Free gives you one HRV measurement per day, and the report shows 5 basic metrics instead of 21. You also get a basic sleep assessment, overnight heart rate and wake-ups, plus a simplified blood pressure report. Breathing practices, tags, mood and health askers, and manual weight and blood pressure entry all stay free.
History is limited to the past 30 days, and anything older is deleted. Trends are the whole point of HRV, so a free user sees today against last week and no further.
One App Store reviewer writes that the "[f]ree version already provides useful information about your wellbeing. Paid version provides even deeper insights" apps.apple.com.
The camera is what makes free usable. Hold a finger over the lens with the flash on. A user in r/welltory describes months of readings taken that way: "And no Apple Watch. Just the camera for readings every morning and also before bed" reddit.com.

Free history only reaches back 30 days, and older readings are deleted. If long-term trends are your reason for using Welltory, that is the feature you are paying for.

What does Welltory Premium cost?
Premium is $99 a year on welltory.com, which the site frames as $8.25 a month. A lifetime option sits next to it at $599 as a one-time payment. The App Store lists that same lifetime tier at $299.99.
The price depends on where you buy.
Monthly is the common question. Welltory's staff account posted in November 2025 that "The actual monthly plan has been archived and is now only available through our website" reddit.com. Monthly in-app options were still listed on the US and UK App Store in July 2026, at $12.99 and £11.99.
What buyers describe is simpler. No monthly option appears at the point of purchase, so the annual becomes the choice on offer. One App Store reviewer wrote "There's no free trial, no monthly option, and no way of knowing whether or not I would get enough value out of the premium insights" apps.apple.com.
Long-term users think that is steep. One in r/welltory values the app at "around a hundred dollars a year for an app that's worth, at best, maybe 20$" reddit.com.
Welltory refunds annual subscriptions in full only within 14 days of your first payment. Decide inside that window.
What do users say about Welltory's paywall?
The loudest paywall complaint comes from people who already paid. Upgrade ads keep appearing after purchase.
A Google Play reviewer writes: "I'm a premium annual subscriber and EVERY SINGLE TIME I open it I have to first see an ad for the lifetime upgrade and close ad cards for the same thing" play.google.com. An App Store reviewer counts the cost: "you have to click through several ads in the app before you get the info you paid a fair amount of money for" apps.apple.com.
A four-star reviewer says paying users can switch the banners off under Menu, Settings, Promo, and nothing in the app points there apps.apple.com.
Cancelling is the second theme, and it lands on plans bought through the website. A Trustpilot reviewer writes that Welltory "hide the ability to cancel your subscription on both the web and mobile apps" trustpilot.com. One Reddit user was charged $99 for "an auto-renewal that I never authorized or agreed to continue" reddit.com.
Two things cut against that reading. Users who bought through Apple say cancelling was straightforward. And Welltory has publicly agreed the screen is at fault: "If there's no Cancel button, it usually means the subscription is already canceled... we agree the UI needs to be clearer" reddit.com.

Who should stay free, and who should upgrade?
Stay free if you want a morning HRV number, you are happy reading it yourself, and a rolling 30 days is enough. That covers most curious users.
Upgrade if the trend is the product. Trustpilot reviewers with POTS, chronic pancreatitis, dysautonomia and heart-attack recovery take their Welltory trends to clinicians, and some say a test was scheduled sooner because of them trustpilot.com. Several of them still call the price steep.
If you want sleep stages, Welltory cannot give them. If you take a beta blocker, there is nowhere to log it, so your scores will read low. And if numbers make you anxious, reviewers with chronic fatigue report the energy score inverting how they actually feel.

We have not used Welltory, and nothing here is a test result. This article reports what users say in public, collected on 29 July 2026. Prices come from Welltory's plans page and its App Store listings, checked the same day.
Six kinds of source went in.
They are 60 of the 245 Trustpilot reviews, the 50 most recent written US App Store reviews, the 200 newest English-language Google Play reviews, 18 Reddit threads with their 387 comments, 12 Product Hunt reviews, and the comments under Welltory's own YouTube video. That is 731 public items, 87 of them Welltory staff replies. We count those as company statements, not user opinion.
Two checks came back empty. Apple's UK review feed returned no written reviews, so nothing here speaks for UK users. And no independent tester review ranks on page one of US search results, because the two long reviews that do rank are published by rival health apps.
Welltory's 4.7 stars on the App Store sits oddly against its own recent written reviews. 19 of the 50 newest are one star. Product Hunt's 4.8 rests on 34 reviews, 21 of them labelled founder reviews. We weighted Trustpilot, Google Play and Reddit above both.
